Kindergarten
Throughout the course of the school year, kindergarten students go on several field trips that provide opportunities for outdoor education. These field trips correlate directly to the science curriculum and provide fun, hands-on learning experiences both for the students and the parents who are able to join them.

1st & 2nd Grade
The 1st and 2nd Grade classes go on several field trips each year that give students wonderful hands-on discovery experiences. The trips vary from year to year and may include a visit to a local farm, a day trip to the beach for ocean learning, and others that also include opportunities for parent involvement.

3rd & 4th Grade
Every year, the third and fourth Grade students get to experience new and awesome adventures through hands-on learning while visiting various places. Some of these may include museum visits and day trips, a visit to Santa Barbara, San Francisco or other California cities.

5th & 6th Grade
Fifth and sixth graders are excited to learn about a larger world by experience. Among their other field and day trips, the 5th - 6th Grade students joined the 7th and 8th Grade students for a 3-day trip to Catalina to visit the Catalina Island Marine Institute. Kayaking and night snorkeling were a thrilling addition to their marine and island studies.

7th & 8th Grade
As a private school, Valley View Adventist Academy is able to engage in larger field trips, as funding allows. In addition to other field and day trips, the 7th - 8th Grade students participated in a 3-day trip to Catalina to visit the Catalina Island Marine Institute. Kayaking and night snorkeling, hiking, and dissecting marine organisms were a thrilling addition to their marine and island studies.

9th & 10th Grade
Each year the 9th and 10th Grade students look forward to their backpacking trip in early September. Whether they go to Yosemite or to another of California's beautiful hiking areas, they always have a terrific time. It's a great opportunity for bonding and trust based friendships that last throughout the school year. Additional trips may include bible retreats, music trips, and other educational trips as they are available.

Parent Participation
Parents are always welcome to participate in all the fun activities and trips that we do with the children. In fact, these trips would not be possible without all the help from our awesome parent volunteers!

At Valley View, we always put the safety of our children first. For this reason, all parents wishing to join us on field trips need to complete an online background check as required by the Central California Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists. The background check is completed through Shield the Vulnerable. Click on the link below for more information. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Behrens or Mrs. Gerking at the school office.  Learn more at ShieldtheVulnerable.org
